“PROJECT SAFEGUARD”
RECEIVES DONATIONS TO FENCE
DRAKE ELEMENTARY SCHOOL
For Immediate Release
The Nevada State Contractors Board and the Washoe County School District are pleased to announce that Florence Drake Elementary
School, 2755 4th St., Sparks, NV, will be the third elementary school in Northern Nevada to have protective fencing installed under
the “Project Safeguard” program.
The Associated Builders and Contractors Inc., Sierra Nevada Chapter, donated $4,200 and Drake’s Parent Faculty Association gave $1,635. Installation of the fencing is expected to be completed shortly after the first of the year.
“We are very excited about the increased level of safety this will provide for our student body,” Jason Childs, Drake’s principal, said upon receiving word of the donations.
“Community service has always been a cornerstone of the Associated Builders & Contractors Sierra Nevada Chapter,” said Clara Andriola, ABC Sierra Nevada Chapter President. “Each year, ABC member companies strengthen our communities by serving
the needs of others. ABC’s members have a long history of supporting education, and continue to do their part in providing a healthy and prosperous learning environment for future generations. As an organization, our members are committed to safety in their everyday workplace. As a result, it’s a natural fit for ABC to be a part of this project by ensuring our children's environment is safe.
“ABC is grateful for the opportunity to help make a difference in our community, and we would like to thank the Nevada State Contractors Board and Washoe County School District for partnering with ABC in this much needed community project."
In November, Bill Aue, owner of Allied Electrical, Inc. in Reno and a member of ABC, donated $1,662 – the entire sum needed to fence Elmcrest Elementary School in Reno. In July, Microsoft Licensing, GP of Reno donated $2,850.50 to provide fencing for Bud Beasley Elementary School in Sparks.
Elementary schools still requiring protective fencing include: Jesse Beck, Reno; Kate Smith, Sparks; Smithridge, Reno and Verdi,Verdi.
